Mr. Liu Jiayi, CNAO’s Auditor General, met with a Korean delegation led by Dr. Kun Yang, Chairman of the Board of Audit and Inspection of Korea, on May 31.
Mr. Liu Jiayi extended warm welcome to the delegation. He said both China and Korea enjoy a long history with similar culture and national spirits. In recent years, the two countries conducted frequent and comprehensive exchanges in the political, economic and cultural fields. The SAIs of the two countries as well maintained traditionally friendly and cooperative relations, and coordinated and cooperated with each other with the same stand within the INTOSAI and ASOSAI. Currently, both China and Korea are facing the international economic crisis and the tasks of safeguarding economic security, promoting anti-corruption, improving people’s livelihood, protecting environment and resources, and building up efficient and clean government under the rule of law. The SAIs can play an active role in the above-mentioned respects by boosting their capacity building, said Mr. Liu. The CNAO is willing to enhance bilateral cooperation with Korea’s Board of Audit and Inspection, and to work together to push forward the development of auditing, he added.
Dr. Kun Yang thanked Mr. Liu for his warm reception. He said the purpose of his visit was to further promote the development of the friendly cooperation between the two SAIs. China and Korea’s auditing enjoy a solid foundation of cooperation. After China and Korea started FTA negotiations, the SAIs of the two countries will have broader space for cooperation, he added. Dr. Kun Yang also wished the INTOSAI Governing Board meeting to be held in Chengdu, China later this year a great success.
