Upon the invitation of ASOSAI and German International Cooperation (GIZ), the CNAO sent Mr. LIU Huibo, an experienced auditor on environmental auditing, to give lectures on the Workshop on “Cooperative Environmental Audit on Water Issue Focusing on the Mekong River Basin Management” from 12 to 16 March 2012 in Bangkok, Thailand, as an instructor and Subject Matter Expert (SME).
The Workshop was facilitated under the cooperative framework between ASOSAI and GIZ, with 28 trainees from SAIs of Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. The 5-day workshop shall help the SAIs in the ASEAN Region to improve their capacities to carry out environmental audits, especially those concerning water issues.
Mr. LIU gave lectures on three courses, “Overview of the Environmental Audit”, “Water and Water Management”and“Environmental Audit Concerning Water Issues” on the workshop. He also commented on the cases of environmental audit concerning water issues conducted by the SAIs of Indonesia and Malaysia to inspire new ideas from the trainees. Meanwhile, he provided professional guidance to several audit teams on the issues such as the selection of audit subject matters and the preliminary preparation of audit plan. By sharing CNAO’s experiences and best practices, Mr. LIU also made some recommendations on the Cooperative Environmental Audit of the Mekong River Basin Management.
